Welcome to the Skin-Tag Treatment Website

Welcome to the skin tags website. In this website, we explain what skin tags are, how they are caused and how we treat them at Absolute Aesthetics.

What are skin tags?

Skin Tags

Skin tags are little bits of skin-coloured tissue that hang off of the skin in certain areas. They are most commonly found around the neck (collar line), armpits, under the bust line in women and in the groin.

They are actually part of the skin itself, rather than being a growth or anything else on the skin. They are generally skin colored or can be slightly darker. Although usually small, they can grow to be quite large and fleshy. As they get bigger, they do have a blood supply although they do not usually have nerves within them.

They are not at all dangerous as they are only extra skin, but they can be either cosmetically unsightly or may catch on clothes and become quite sore. If rubbed raw by clothes, the skin surface can be breached and the skin tag can then become infected.

How are skin tags formed?

Skin tags are found in areas where there is constant rubbing (friction) of the skin.

Around the neckline, it is often collars of shirts that cause this friction. Under the armpits, clothes tend to get caught and with the addition of perspiration (sweating) the skin can get damaged and become irritated allowing the formation of the skin tags. In women the bra strap, particularly under the bust, can cause friction and the development of skin tags. In the groin, tight elasticated underwear is usually the cause.

Skin tags tend not to be found elsewhere unless specific fashions or apparel causes friction regularly over a long period of time, in which case skin tags can be formed.

A new face at Absolute Aesthetics!

Dr. Kuldeep Minocha has joined Absolute Aesthetics and will be working at Guildford one day a week. Kuldeep specialises in advanced facial injections and needle free techniques. These specialised techniques include the Nefertiti neck lift, liquid face lift and tear trough filling.
We are hosting an evening event with Kuldeep on Tuesday 22nd May from 18.00 where he will demonstrate his ‘needle free’ techniques and explain why he believes that less is more, in the art of facial aesthetics. It will be a small, informal event and numbers will be restricted - please call 01483 477 189 to confirm your place.

Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra Case Series

Absolute Aesthetics are looking for volunteers to take part in a case series to treat Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra. This condition is a common disorder which normally develops in adolescence on black skin and is identified by smooth, dome shaped, brown to black papules seen mainly on the cheeks, neck and upper chest.
